Gosan Vasht I
Gosan Vasht is a collaborative storytelling and movement workshop created by Dr. Elnaz Sheshgelani (UNESCO – International Dance Council) for and with children, rooted in Persian folklore and the ancient tradition of Gosan—traveling storytellers, dancers, and musicians. We worked with nine incredible kids to explore story through embodied gestures, rhythm, and imagination.
The project was directed and choreographed by Elnaz, drawing from her decades-long research into Adamak-tion, a visual performance language rooted in Persian dramatic dance. I had the pleasure of being the second artist in charge, supporting the development and delivery of the workshop. My role involved guiding the children through movement sequences, building trust and play, and helping translate traditional stories into meaningful and joyful experiences.
Through this workshop, I was the second artist in charge, and it deepened my own cultural connection, seeing the excitement in the kids as they learned gestures from ancient traditions reminded me how powerful cultural storytelling can be, even in playful settings.
After 10 sessions of working with our students, we had a performance at Doncaster Playhouse in Febuary 2024.
